WoFun Miniatures at Hamburg Tactica 2025 – A Grand Display of Napoleonic Warfare

Each year, wargaming enthusiasts gather in Hamburg for the Tactica Convention, the largest tabletop gaming event in Germany. This year, WoFun Miniatures took part in the event, bringing the Napoleonic Wars to life with a spectacular 10mm-scale battle using the Kugelhagel ruleset by Martin Feller.

In this article, we’ll explore Hamburg Tactica 2025, WoFun Miniatures’ role in the event, and the epic Napoleonic wargame that captivated participants and spectators alike.

Hamburg is always worth a visit, even in February, when the city often greets visitors with its characteristic cold and rainy weather..

So why should you go to Hamburg now of all times? Quite simply: Because since 2006 the Hamburg Tactica, the largest wargaming event in Germany, has taken place in the Wilhelmsburg community center every February.

The event is expertly organized by the dedicated members of the "Wargaming Club Hamburg," who go above and beyond to create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for all attendees each year.

The event is a meeting place for regional and national figure collectors and wargamers, with visitors now traveling from all over Europe to marvel at the fantastic presentations or simply to exchange ideas with other like-minded people. The range extends from fantasy and science fiction to historical systems in all common figure scales. In addition, there are plenty of presentations and workshops that deal with the craft and artistic aspects of the wargaming hobby.

The center of the event every year, however, is the game presentations and the themed room, which is dedicated to a special era or historical event every year. This year the theme was "French times", so there are plenty of appropriate presentations and also a small exhibition with historical exhibits accompanied and presented by historically experienced reenactors.

Martin Feller from Kugelhagel (https://kugelhagel-tabletop.de/ ), who some of you will already know from his reports on our blog, participated at Tactica this year with Peter Dennis’s 10mm Napoleonic WoFun miniatures and a demo game of his rule system (at the moment the Kugelhagel rule book is only available in German, but an English version is already in the works).

The Napoleonic Scenario at Tactica – A "What If?" Battle

The game was a fictional battle with a "what if?" scenario, namely what if Napoleon had defended the Elbe line offensively, as originally planned, and had not been forced onto the defensive?

The year 1812 brought the downfall of the Grande Armee in the snowy expanses of Russia

The year 1812 brought the downfall of the Grande Armee in the snowy expanses of Russia. But Napoleon is far from defeated, on the contrary. He is betting everything on a new offensive against the Prussians and Russians, who are now acting more and more boldly in northern Germany. The aim of his efforts is an offensive defense of the Elbe line to prevent a clash between the approaching Prussian and Russian forces in northern Germany and to defeat the respective armies separately, thereby ensuring that the Duke of Mecklenburg is not tempted to switch sides, which would endanger the security of Hamburg.

While Napoleon is still trying to reorganize his forces, he has placed the defense of the Elbe line in the capable hands of his subordinates, but will they succeed in achieving the Emperor's ambitious goals with the few forces at their disposal?

Can they secure the important Elbe crossing? And prevent the approaching Russian and Prussian forces from joining forces to crush the French defenders with their sheer superiority?

At this stage, command is handed over to the players—four in total—with two leading the French forces, one commanding the Prussians, and one directing the Russian troops, each striving to accomplish their strategic objectives.

WoFun 10mm Miniatures – Bringing History to Your Table

The game at Tactica 2025 was a perfect showcase of WoFun Miniatures’ 10mm range, illustrated by Peter Dennis and designed by Mirko Brunner.

Why 10mm scale?

· Affordable & Cost-Effective: A full army is significantly cheaper than traditional metal or plastic miniatures.

· Pre-Painted & Ready to Play: No assembly or painting required—just slot them into bases and start gaming.

· Historically Accurate Designs: Featuring period-accurate uniforms and details.

· Mass Battles Made Easy: The 10mm scale allows for grand armies without overwhelming table space.

WoFun’s 10mm Collections

For those inspired by the Napoleonic battle at Tactica, WoFun offers a wide range of 10mm historical miniatures, including:

· Antiquity: This collection features 2903 miniatures, representing diverse armies from ancient civilizations, allowing players to recreate epic battles from the classical era.

· Gallic Wars: Comprising 4,470 miniatures, this set focuses on the conflicts between Roman legions and Gallic tribes, perfect for simulating Caesar's campaigns.

· Pike & Shot Era: This period is represented by two comprehensive collections:

English Civil War: Containing 4,506 miniatures, this pack allows players to delve into the tumultuous battles between Royalists and Parliamentarians during the 17th century.

Thirty Years' War: With 4,056 miniatures, this collection covers the extensive conflicts of early modern Europe, enabling reenactments of pivotal battles from this era.

· Napoleonic Wars: With 8,718 miniatures, this extensive collection covers various units from the Napoleonic era, enabling grand-scale battles like those demonstrated at Tactica.

· Waterloo Campaign: This set includes 6,710 miniatures, meticulously designed to recreate the famous Battle of Waterloo, allowing players to refight this pivotal moment in history.

· Seven Years' War: Featuring 6,676 miniatures, this collection represents the global conflict of the 18th century, offering a wide array of units for diverse battle scenarios.

· American Civil War: This set provides 3,560 miniatures, covering both Union and Confederate forces, perfect for reenacting the intense battles of the Civil War.

WoFun’s 10mm miniatures were the perfect choice for this scenario. Unlike previous Kugelhagel games at Tactica, where Martin used 28mm miniatures at the division level, this time he could command an entire French corps, consisting of two divisions, against a mixed Russian-Prussian corps. And the sight of the large number of miniatures on the table was impressive. As the players of the seven or so games of the two-day event had to admit without envy.

So if you want to quickly raise huge Napoleonic armies, the 10 mm scale is ideal.
