How to unsprue the minis
The miniatures are attached to the sprue by a thin piece of clear plexiglass at their base. When removing them, it’s crucial to proceed gently to avoid damaging any delicate parts. Start by carefully pushing the miniature out from the top, applying light, even pressure. Take extra care if the figure is holding a spear or features other fine details, as these can be fragile and prone to snapping if too much force is applied.
Miniature wargaming is a tabletop hobby where players recreate historical or fantasy battles using miniature figures, dice, and tactical rules. Traditional miniature wargaming requires weeks of painting and assembling miniatures before you can play, which can be overwhelming for beginners.
WoFun Games makes starting miniature wargaming incredibly easy. Our pre-printed, ready-to-play miniatures go from box to battlefield in minutes -- no painting, no glue, no experience required. Simply choose a historical period or fantasy setting you're interested in (like Napoleonic Wars, Medieval battles, or Wild West), grab one of our Starter Packs with downloadable rules by Andy Callan, and you're ready to play your first game within an hour.
The best miniature wargames for beginners combine simple rules, readily available miniatures, and exciting gameplay. At WoFun, our most beginner-friendly options include:
- Seven Years' War - Straightforward 18th-century warfare with clear unit types
- Wild West Skirmish Games - Small-scale battles perfect for learning mechanics
- Fantasy Rules - Imaginative battles with simple fantasy army combat
- American War of Independence - Historical warfare with accessible tactics
Each comes with free downloadable rules from renowned game designer Andy Callan and curated Starter Packs. Unlike traditional miniature wargames where beginners spend months painting before playing, WoFun's ready-to-play miniatures let you start gaming immediately.
Traditional miniature wargaming requires painting hundreds of miniatures, which can take months or even years. Many newcomers abandon the hobby before ever playing a game because of this time investment.
WoFun miniatures solve this problem completely. Our figures come pre-printed in full color on durable plexiglass with incredible detail -- accurate uniforms, individual facial expressions, realistic shading that creates 3D depth. You simply press them from the sprue and slot them into bases in about 60 seconds per stand. No painting skills, no brushes, no expensive paints required.
This makes WoFun perfect for people who want to play miniature wargames immediately, players with limited time, or those who simply prefer gaming over painting.
Starting miniature wargaming traditionally costs hundreds of euros: unpainted miniatures (€100-300+), paints and brushes (€50-100), rulebooks (€30-50), terrain (€50-200+), plus months of your time. Many potential wargamers never start because of these barriers.
WoFun dramatically reduces costs. Our Starter Packs begin at €43.5-€50 for 18mm scales and include everything needed for two complete armies. The rules are free to download. A complete ready-to-play setup costs 40-60% less than traditional miniature wargaming while eliminating hundreds of hours of prep work.
WoFun produces miniatures in three popular wargaming scales, each suited for different gaming styles:
28mm miniatures - Our largest scale, perfect for skirmish games with 20-100 figures. Each miniature shows incredible detail with distinct facial features, equipment, and uniforms. Ideal for games like Wild West shootouts, small Renaissance battles, or fantasy warbands where individual heroes matter.
18mm miniatures - The "Goldilocks" scale - detailed enough to appreciate but economical for medium-sized battles with 100-300 figures. Popular for Napoleonic Wars, English Civil War, Seven Years' War, and American War of Independence.
10mm miniatures - Best for epic historical battles with thousands of miniatures representing massive armies. Perfect for Napoleonic campaigns, ancient warfare, or any period where you want the spectacle of regiment upon regiment.
WoFun offers over 50 collections spanning 2,200 years across multiple wargaming genres:
Historical Miniature Wargaming:
- Ancient warfare (Imperial Rome, Wars of Alexander, Punic Wars, Byzantine armies)
- Medieval miniature wargames (Battle of Flodden 1513, Wars of the Roses, Crusades)
- Pike & Shot era (English Civil War, Thirty Years' War, Renaissance Wars)
- 18th Century (Seven Years' War, American War of Independence)
- Napoleonic miniature wargames (Peninsular War, Waterloo period armies)
- 19th Century (American Civil War, Colonial conflicts)
- Wild West skirmish games
Fantasy Miniature Wargames: Complete fantasy armies with unique units, magical creatures, and legendary heroes for imaginative tabletop battles.
Naval Wargaming: Age of Sail ship miniatures for recreating famous naval battles.
10mm miniature wargaming uses figures roughly 10 millimeters tall (about 3/8 inch), perfect for recreating epic large-scale battles on standard gaming tables. This scale has become increasingly popular because it offers several advantages:
Visual Spectacle: Field thousands of miniatures representing entire corps and divisions. A 6x4 foot table can accommodate Waterloo or Gettysburg-scale engagements.
Affordability: Build complete armies for a fraction of the cost of 28mm miniatures. WoFun's 10mm ready-to-play regiments are extremely economical.
Practical Gaming: Maneuver realistic historical formations without needing a warehouse-sized table. Perfect for Napoleonic Wars, ancient battles, and campaign games.
Quick Assembly: WoFun's 10mm pre-printed miniatures assemble even faster than larger scales while maintaining impressive detail including accurate uniforms and unit distinctions.
WoFun revolutionizes miniature wargaming with pre-printed plexiglass miniatures that eliminate the traditional painting barrier:
Immediate Playability: Press figures from sprue, slot into bases -- battle-ready in 60 seconds per stand versus weeks of painting.
Superior Detail: Each miniature features unique illustrations with individual facial expressions, historically accurate uniforms, realistic shading creating 3D depth effects.
Durability: Plexiglass construction means no chipped paint, no broken swords or spears like fragile metal or resin miniatures.
Cost Effectiveness: Ready-to-play WoFun regiments cost less than equivalent unpainted plastic miniatures and dramatically less than pre-painted metal alternatives.
Massive Selection: Over 50,000 individual miniatures across 50+ collections spanning ancient to modern history plus fantasy realms.
Absolutely! Pre-printed miniatures are increasingly popular in the wargaming community, especially WoFun's high-quality plexiglass figures. Here's why serious wargamers choose them:
Focus on Gaming: Many experienced wargamers prefer spending time on tactics, strategy, and battles rather than endless painting. WoFun lets you field multiple historical periods simultaneously.
Historical Accuracy: WoFun miniatures feature meticulously researched uniforms and equipment, often more accurate than hand-painted figures since each design is verified before printing.
Consistency: Entire armies maintain uniform appearance with correct facing colors, unit distinctions, and period-appropriate details.
Tournament Ready: Pre-printed miniatures are accepted at most gaming conventions and tournaments.
WW2 miniature wargaming is one of the most popular periods, recreating battles from 1939-1945 across Europe, North Africa, and the Pacific. Players enjoy commanding infantry squads, tank platoons, and combined arms operations.
While WoFun's current catalog focuses on earlier historical periods (ancient through 19th century), our technology and expertise in creating historically accurate, ready-to-play miniatures makes us ideal for future WW2 collections.
For wargamers interested in WW2 periods, we recommend exploring our American Civil War collection or Fantasy rules. Stay tuned to our Facebook community for announcements about upcoming periods.
Fantasy miniature wargames let you command armies of legendary warriors, mythical creatures, and magical heroes in epic tabletop battles. WoFun's fantasy collection offers complete armies ready for immediate play.
Our fantasy miniature wargames include:
- Unique faction armies with distinct tactical styles
- Legendary heroes and powerful champions
- Mythical creatures and monsters
- Magic-wielding spell casters
- Elite infantry and monstrous cavalry units
- Fantasy terrain compatible with 28mm, 18mm, and 10mm scales
Unlike fantasy miniatures from other manufacturers requiring extensive painting, WoFun's pre-printed fantasy armies come with vibrant colors, intricate armor designs, and magical effects already illustrated.
Yes! WoFun offers extensive medieval miniature wargaming coverage spanning the 5th-16th centuries:
Early Medieval: Byzantine heavy infantry, Dark Age warriors, Viking raiders, Saxon shield walls
High Medieval: Crusades collections featuring Knights Templar, Saracen cavalry, European men-at-arms, crossbowmen, and siege equipment
Late Medieval: Battle of Flodden 1513 (Scottish vs English armies), Wars of the Roses (Lancaster vs York), Hundred Years' War period armies
Renaissance Transition: Pike & Shot collections including Swiss pikemen, landsknechts, and early gunpowder units
Each medieval miniature wargames collection features historically accurate armor, weapons, heraldry, and tactics for the period.
WoFun's plexiglass miniatures are remarkably durable -- often more so than traditional metal, plastic, or resin wargaming miniatures:
No Paint Chips: Unlike painted miniatures where chips and scratches ruin appearance after repeated handling, WoFun's colors are printed into the material itself. Your armies look pristine even after hundreds of games.
Flex Without Breaking: Plexiglass has slight flexibility, so spears, swords, and pikes bend rather than snap. Traditional metal lances break easily; resin weapons are notoriously fragile.
Transport Friendly: Lightweight yet sturdy construction survives transport to gaming clubs and conventions better than heavy metal miniatures that bend or paint-coated plastics that chip.
Long-term Investment: WoFun miniatures maintain their appearance for decades. Traditional painted miniatures require touch-ups and eventual repainting.
One of WoFun's greatest advantages is speed from box to battlefield:
Unboxing to Battle-Ready:
- Press miniatures from sprue: 60 seconds per stand
- Insert into bases: 10 seconds per stand
- Complete regiment (12-20 figures): 2-3 minutes
- Full army (200+ figures): 30-60 minutes
Compare to Traditional Miniature Wargaming: 50-120 hours before first game including assembly, cleaning, priming, painting, and basing.
Your First Game: With WoFun, you can realistically unbox a Starter Pack and play a complete battle the same evening.
Absolutely! WoFun miniatures work perfectly with virtually any miniature wargames rules system. Our figures follow standard military conventions:
Scale Compatibility:
- 28mm WoFun miniatures work with Warhammer, SAGA, Lion Rampant, and other 28mm rules
- 18mm work with Lasalle, Napoleonics rules, DBR, Field of Glory, and similar systems
- 10mm work with Warmaster, Black Powder, Fire & Fury, and grand tactical games
Basing Flexibility: WoFun miniatures come with standard bases, but you can easily rebase them for specific rules requirements. The slot-and-base system allows removal for rebasing without damaging figures.
Yes! WoFun offers ready-to-assemble MDF terrain specifically designed for miniature wargaming:
Historical Buildings: Roman forts and fortifications (18mm scale), Hougoumont farmhouse (famous Waterloo battle location), period-appropriate farmhouses and buildings, medieval structures, and Viking longships for naval or coastal scenarios.
Terrain Advantages: Pre-printed with realistic textures and details, quick assembly with no painting required, scale-appropriate sizing for 10mm, 18mm, and 28mm miniatures, historically accurate architecture for period battles, and durable MDF construction for years of gaming.
Like our miniatures, WoFun terrain eliminates the traditional scratch-building or extensive painting requirements.
