This is not the kind of article I enjoy writing.
Talking about prices is never easy, especially in a hobby we all care about. I know very well that many of you already have to think about shipping, import taxes, customs fees, storage space, rules, terrain and, of course, the eternal question: which army should I start next when I still have three unfinished projects waiting for me?
And yet, I think it is better to speak openly.
In December 2025, on WoFun's anniversary, we announced that our long-running permanent discounts could not continue forever. At that time, I wrote that in 2026 we would need to move to a more sustainable pricing structure.
The new pricing structure will take effect on 1 September 2026. Until then, the old permanent discounted prices remain available.
We did not make the change immediately.
There was a reason for that.
Why We Waited
In 2026, our delivery times were not where I wanted them to be.
WoFun has always produced most miniatures on demand, after orders are placed. We do not keep large quantities of stock for every product in the catalogue.
That is one of the reasons we can offer such a large range of armies, periods and scales, but it also means that when production pressure rises, delays can appear very quickly.
At the most difficult point, our average delivery time reached around 25 days. Our target is much closer to 5–10 days.
So before changing prices, we focused on production first.
Over the past few months, we have hired, reorganized, built internal tools, improved planning and put most of our energy into getting orders moving faster again.
We are still not perfect, but we are now much closer to our target. Today, we ship at around 12 days on average.
Only now do I feel that we can implement the pricing structure we announced earlier.
Why Prices Need to Change
Since 2019, we have kept the same discounted prices for WoFun Minis.
That is a very long time.
During those years, almost everything around production became more expensive: materials, energy, logistics, labour, packaging, international shipping and the general cost of running a small European manufacturing business.
Brexit, the pandemic, the war in Ukraine and new trade pressures all changed the world in which WoFun operates.
For a while, we hoped things would calm down.
They did not.
So we have to make our pricing structure sustainable.
Not because we want WoFun to become a luxury product. Quite the opposite.
We need WoFun to survive as the thing it was meant to be: a practical, colourful, ready-to-play way to put large historical battles on the table.
What Changes From 1 September 2026
The new structure is simple.
Plexiglass WoFun Minis
For Plexiglass WoFun Minis:
- List price: €20 per Plexiglass sprue
- Current price: €18 per Plexiglass sprue
- We will keep the €18 price unchanged in the coming months
- Bases are calculated separately
For 18mm and 28mm products, bases are generally +€3.50 per sprue.
For 10mm products, bases are generally +€4 per sprue, because the 10mm base template is larger.
The price of MDF bases depends on the size and number of bases required for that particular product.
A standard 18mm/28mm base sprue is approximately 6.6 × 15 cm, while the 10mm base sprue is approximately 10 × 15 cm.
What Is Not Part of the General Price Update
The following products are not part of this general WoFun Minis price update:
- Digital rules
- Terrain
- Props
- Bases-only products
- Gift products
- Shipping
Artillery Sets
For artillery sets that require a pre-cut MDF gun sprue, printed on both sides and ready to assemble, we are currently offering that MDF artillery sprue as a bonus.
We are not adding a separate charge for it.
What a WoFun Sprue Actually Is
It may be useful to explain what sits behind a WoFun sprue.
Each sprue starts as a Plexiglass sheet of approximately 15 × 20 cm. It is printed on both sides, aligned, cut and prepared as a ready-to-play set of historical miniatures.
It is not a paper print.
It is not a one-sided photo panel.
It is a finished gaming component: artwork, historical range development, double-sided printing, cutting, product organization and made-to-order production, all contained in one small sheet that becomes soldiers, cavalry, commanders, artillery crews or other battlefield elements.
Even generic custom acrylic prints of a similar size are not inexpensive products.
WoFun adds the artwork, the historical range, the double-sided miniature print, the cutting and the gaming function on top of that.
The Real Comparison: The Cost of a Ready-to-Play Army
I do not want to pretend that WoFun Minis are the same thing as traditional plastic, resin or metal miniatures.
They are not.
Painted 3D miniatures are wonderful. Many of us love them. Many of us own far too many of them.
Some of us still have grey armies waiting patiently for the day when courage, time and a free weekend finally meet in the same room.
WoFun is a different answer to a different problem.
What if I want to fight a large historical battle now?
What if I want to try a new period without spending months painting?
What if I want hundreds or thousands of soldiers on the table, in colour, with flags, cavalry, artillery and commanders, without turning the project into a second job?
That is where WoFun belongs.
So the fairest comparison is not only the cost of one unpainted miniature. The fairest comparison is the total cost and time needed to put a playable army on the table.
Based on our current price checks, the cost per printed Plexiglass figure before bases remains very accessible across many sets:
- Many 10mm sets can work out at around €0.07–€0.10 per figure
- Many 18mm sets can work out at around €0.25–€0.40 per figure
- Many 28mm packs can work out at around €0.50–€0.60 per figure
Cavalry, commanders, artillery and smaller special sets are usually a little more expensive per figure because fewer models fit on a sprue.
In several 28mm cavalry or special examples, the cost is closer to around €0.75 per printed Plexiglass figure before bases.
Traditional miniatures are a different product and a different experience.
But once painting time or professional painting services are included, the cost per ready-to-play figure is often several euros. A tabletop-painted figure can easily add multiple euros per miniature, while detailed 28mm infantry can cost considerably more.
This is where WoFun remains strong: not as a replacement for painting, but as one of the most accessible ways to build large, attractive, ready-to-play historical armies.
What Stays the Same
The heart of WoFun stays the same.
We will continue to focus on:
- Historical collections
- Large battles
- Ready-to-play miniatures
- Accessible armies
- Fast setup
- Colourful printed artwork
- Releases that help more players put history on the table
The purpose of this price update is to make that possible for the long term.
It helps us keep production stable.
It helps us continue improving delivery.
It helps us support the team.
And it helps us prepare future releases.
Bringing WoFun Minis Closer to More Players
The new structure also helps us work toward something I believe will be better for customers: having WoFun Minis available closer to you, through shops and distributors in your own countries.
The best experience is not always ordering internationally from Romania, waiting for made-to-order production and then waiting again for shipping and local import processing.
If WoFun Minis can be closer to wargamers in more countries, that is better for everyone.
A healthier pricing structure is aligned with this goal. It gives us a better chance to build a stronger distribution channel and bring WoFun Minis closer to more gaming tables.
